Dear Dr. Dobbs: I have an English Setter with his results from his Throid Test...Would it be possible to send that paper to you for you to evaluate for me. I co-own this English Setter with Mrs. Gloria Arata whom I am sure that you know. If you can look over the results and give us a written result, that would be super...I will have to know your address or could fax the paper to you, Thank you for your help. Dawn S. Ronyak

Make sure your pup has social contact with people AND dogs. Make sure your dog is getting his puppy shots. Do not expose him to areas where stray dogs may frequent. Remember that your pup can still become sick even after he completes his puppy shots.

Socialization is so important -- the lack of people taking the time to do so with their dog is one of the reasons why so many of them end up in a shelter.

I think it is great that you help these poor dogs. I know that a lot of
people would like to help, but don't know how.

I rescue dogs south of the border and when we find a feral mom with pups, usually the pups are fat and healthy and the mom is a rail....we start to suppliment feed the mom right away and at about 2 1/2 weeks start to supplement feed the pups. We use puppy milk, dried puppy formula powder, pulverize some puppy chow and use a tablespoon of canned meat for taste...mix it all together and store it in fridge. when we feed the pups we just add some hot water to the cold mix and it makes a tasty and nutricious meal for the puppies...twice a day. Mom fattens up very quickly and then we capture them, and socialize them, get them spayed and on to forever homing land when the pups are old enough.
