Hank, a Boston Terrier, is getting ready to go kayaking in the Elkhorn Slough Reserve at Moss Landing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Hank is bundled up in his Fido Float.

It’s time to get your pet ready for summer. Give Alison a call for a grooming appointment (760) 436-6619. Also remember to keep an eye out for hot spots on your dog’s skin.

The wooferang brings out the inner dingo in your dog

Inside your mild mannered pooch is a dingo just waiting to run free. This wooferang is the dog toy boomerang. It’s stronger than a kangaroo on steroids.

The wooferang is also great for families with two dogs that are always fighting over who gets to carry the toy back.

Mr. Bill made it fun to laugh at little guys getting clobbered. He was a claymation figure featured on Saturday Night Live back when it was funny.

Now you can laugh as your dog chews him to pieces. Instead of a squeeker, this dog toy will say “oh nooooooooo!!!!!” when your dog bites down.

Just watch out for Mr. Sluggo.

The dogs had a great time at Alcala Pet Care during Easter. We had our annual Easter egg hunt. The dogs that find the most eggs get a special Easter basket to take home.

Believe it or not, the dogs are able to find the eggs, open them, and get the treats that are inside.

This little guy was “guarding” the entrance to a bistro in Bordeaux France. French bulldogs are quite popular across France.

It’s quite common to see dogs greeting people inside restaurants and stores. I recently saw a cat watching people as they entered a grocery store in Paris.

2008 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship

In Long Beach, California on December 13 and 14 more than two thousand dogs will meet for the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, the AKC Agility invitational, the AKC Obedience invitational, and the Eukanuba World Challenge. Some features of this complete canine “extravaganza” include:

Top 25 dogs in each of the 156 AKC-recognized breeds
Dogs from 52 countries represented in the Eukanuba World Challenge
Bred-by Exhibitor competition the $15,000 prize money
154 youngsters in the Junior Showmanship competition
468 Agility teams and 100 Obedience teams.

The life of Chip

Here’s a nice blog, Chip Pics, about a hiker who discovers a nearly frozen, barely alive chipmunk. She was able to nurse the little guy back to life and he has become a part of the family.

Here was Chip as I found him: curled up, cold, appearing to be dead, in the middle of a trail in the Olympics.

Over the next hour, as I held him in my hand, he warmed up and started to move. Here he is nestled in my fleece hat. He’s just a few weeks old … eyes still closed, very immature.
